Cory Booker is among the 13 corporate Democrats mentioned in a previous post who late last night voted against an amendment proposed by Bernie Sanders to allow for the importing of prescription drugs from Canada to help reduce healthcare costs for Americans. Cory Booker callously voted against the amendment, explaining that he had concerns over the the safety of the imported drugs. He could not possibly be more transparent.
.@LaurenLovesWI I unequivocally support drug imports to lower cost but plan must include protections so foreign drugs meet safety standards.

The truth is, we’re not talking about importing drugs from Somalia or something. Canada is a country that has a healthcare system that puts ours to shame and a pharmaceutical regulatory system that is at least as stringent as our own. You can read up on it here on the Canadian government’s website.
What’s really going on is that Cory Booker comes from a state, New Jersey, which is home to more pharmaceutical companies than almost any state in the country.
From science recruiting website, ProClinical.
“There is a plethora of pharmaceutical companies in the state of New Jersey including Johnson and Johnson, Sanofi, Merck, Roche, Novartis, Bayer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Pfizer. In 2012, the pharmaceutical life science sector added approximately $34 billion towards the state gross domestic product. The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported that New Jersey had over 3000 companies engaged in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, and life science sector and employed over 115,000 employees in 2013.”
And if you think this is just a coincidence, is it also a coincidence that Booker takes more money from Big Pharma than nearly every other U.S. Senator? That’s $267,338 in
bribes donations since 2010, to be exact, according to New York Magazine.
The coalition of progressives, liberals, populists, moderates, and varying independents who have loosely formed around the 2016 presidential campaign of Bernie Sanders have been raking Booker over the coals since news broke of his vote. This is because it’s long been assumed and rumored that the New Jersey senator has presidential ambitions. The Bernie Sanders coalition will not let this happen. ‘No more corporate Democrats’ is their mantra, and they will not relent. If the establishment Democrats insist upon coronating Booker in 2020 like they did Clinton in 2016, prepare for another four years of Trump, or perhaps Pence if Trump’s dementia overcomes him by the time 2020 rolls around. Take this as a warning or take this as a threat, Democrats. But whatever you do, take it seriously.
